My personal awards include the U.S. Army's Bronze Star Medal, earned during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004. My highest award earned, I thought others deserved it more than I did, but when I read the award citation, some of the things were just me doing what the 82nd Airborne Division calls "always ready" by always besting yesterday's version of yourself. My soldiers and I looked like super troopers while working through some tough times.

The U.S. Army's Meritorious Service Medal is my second highest award. This was earned in Germany through some tough times being under staffed and under manned. I had a few different hats on and excelled at them. Two were officer hats, although I was a noncommissioned officer, a staff sergeant, I was swinging to the fences in baseball terms.
